Founded in 2016 by Rafael Dos Santos, 7th Records was created with the mission of discovering talented artists and propelling their work into the spotlight. Early on, emerging talents such as Nobodee and Danas Music joined the journey and saw their careers take off. At 7th Records, we value quality and hard work above all. We firmly believe that excellence can only be achieved through dedication and discipline. That’s why we’ve built a team of skilled professionals who support our artists every step of the way, helping them overcome challenges and realize outstanding projects.
Beyond its artistic mission, a record label is a company dedicated to discovering new talent and guiding them throughout their journey. Its role includes supporting artists through every phase of their development—from recording their music to marketing and distributing their work, all while helping them grow their careers. To achieve this, a label needs a committed and experienced team that can identify promising artists and help them fulfill their creative ambitions. In essence, a record label is more than just a production company; it is a trusted partner that works hand-in-hand with artists to build a long-lasting and successful career.
Independent labels operate under the same principles as major record labels, although they often work with more limited technical and human resources. To compensate, they frequently rely on external service providers for tasks like PR and marketing. However, their approach is often more artistically driven than profit-oriented. Indie labels typically offer artists greater creative freedom, more flexible contracts, and a more respectful outlook on their work. Thanks to this human-focused and artist-first philosophy, many independent labels have risen as key players in the music industry, attracting both talented musicians and discerning audiences.
Both record labels and record companies are integral parts of the music industry, with similar missions but distinct structures. A record company is typically a large business that produces and distributes recorded music, often with a hierarchical, commercially driven approach. A record label, on the other hand, is a more flexible entity that may cover production, promotion, and distribution. Record companies usually have more financial power and broader distribution networks, enabling them to reach wider audiences and maximize profit. They often sign exclusive deals with well-known artists and may have more creative control. Labels, however, are usually more focused on artistic quality and offer artists greater freedom and less restrictive contracts. In short, the key differences lie in their scale, approach, and company culture. Artists often weigh the benefits of financial support from record companies against the creative freedom and close-knit support offered by independent labels.
